Production process

Barro mixture - mobile

This is the first process, combining the mixture with three different types of sand, known as “barro”, and this forms the main material for the production of the art.

"El Barro"

Once we have the barro we can continue with artisans molding the material.

Once we have the barro we can continue with artisans molding the material.

The material is placed into molds so it can replicate the shape and design required. There are more than 20 molds per piece so the production is faster so this helps facilitate a quicker completion.

Finished clay

This is what a piece looks after it’s out of the mold. It takes approximately 3 days to dry and it can be pulled out without breaking and another 15 days to dry completely so that it can advance to the next process.

We use a kiln for firing the pieces after the drying process to strengthen them.

Painting

After firing the piece it is ready for painting. We apply colors by hand and finally put a special varnish so it looks bright and beautiful. We can see some samples below.
